Wardrobe Update

A couple of weeks ago I had one of those amazing shopping days where you find some absolute gems.  Primark can be so hit and miss but this time I managed to find some really nice bits and pieces.

My staple uniform used to be pretty blouses tucked into simple skirts but at some point over these past few months I lost my way and got stuck in a bit of a rut. Its amazing how just updating your wardrobe with a few pieces can really make a massive difference. These blouses are so pretty and super flattering and they go with pretty much anything. I also picked up 2 gorgeous skirts, one in a navy blue and one in a gorgeous raspberry colour - perfect for the festive season.

How adorable is this jumper? It's so soft and cosy and I love the fact that the necklace at the front is detachable.

I cant quite believe I didn't have any breton stripes in my wardrobe - this little beauty solved that problem!

Last put not least how could I resist these super sweet pjs? I'm a sucker for woodland animals and this lounge top is so snuggly and warm. Perfect for these cold winter nights snuggling on the sofa with a hot chocolate.

Have you found any gems in Primark recently?

A Few Things

I am absolutely loving this nifty little iPad case. It's a bluetooth keyboard case that transforms your iPad into a little Macbook Air (thats how I like to think of it anyway)
I love my iPad but typing emails or blogposts soon gets tiresome on the onscreen keyboard. I've wanted one of these for a while now so I can write blogposts and respond to emails before work and on my lunch. For £16 its fab and does just the job. I bought mine on ebay (link here)

There's just something about having nice nails that really does it for me. I'm currently going through a phase of loving press on nails. How fun are these? I do love a good chevron! Primark have tons of different offerings for just £1 a set and they are small fitting so actually fit my nail beds. I'm currently stocking up on more tacky Christmas nails than you can imagine.

Sticking with the Christmas theme last week I tried one of the new Costa Christmas Hot Chocolates and its safe to say since then I've developed somewhat of an unhealthy obsession. The chocolate orange hot chocolate is the one.
Craig surprised me with one of their adorable ceramic cups ( SO CUTE I want them all) and the festive syrups so I can create my own more wallet friendly hot chocolates and I absolutely love it!

Happiness Project Month 1 - October - Try New Things

I should start by saying that my Happiness Project actually started towards the end of September but for the purpose of keeping things neat lets just say it officially started in October.

I originally read Gretchen Rubin's Happiness Project last year and after a difficult few months and feeling inspired after reading Alix's posts about her Happiness Project, I thought I would have a go at doing my own and documenting it here on my blog.

It was quite a spur of the moment decision to embark on my Happiness Project so I haven't planned it out as much as Gretchen. I do however hope to be able to spend a little bit more time over the coming months planning and putting more thought into my project but initially I just wanted to get started.

Usually with a Happiness Project there is a general theme for each month and then a series of resolutions to go alongside the theme that help you keep to your goals. The project usually lasts for 12 months. For the first month as I said I didn't really do this but I intend on doing it for the months to come.

I decided my first month would be dedicated to trying new things. After a difficult few months I was left feeling in a very deflated, down and depressed state. I decided that I am ultimately responsible for my happiness and I needed to do something to pick myself up and dust myself off. I didn't want to do anything too bold or defined as the chances were I wouldn't stick to it. I thought an easy way to get things going would be to try new things. Although this may sound simple this was a very easy way for me to have something to focus on and to be open to new experiences and opportunities, not just in terms of physically trying new things but also trying new ways of thinking.

So how would I summarise my first month? I would say fantastic! I have tried so many new things I couldn't possibly list them all. I've tried new foods, a new phone, booking a last minute holiday, a new style of glasses frame, new yoga poses, new books, learning to love my body, stressing less, lightening up, I could go on and on.
The biggest thing I've learned this month is how enriching life can actually be if you keep yourself open to new things. Its so easy to always order the same thing in a restaurant, stick with the same style, and generally stay within your comfort zone. Well as cliche as it is life is what happens when you take yourself out of your comfort zone. There are so many amazing things waiting for you out there if you just try them!
One of the fundamental things I tried was lightening up, just letting things go and telling myself things "aren't a big deal" It is amazing how before I would have flown off the handle for the slightest thing but just saying to myself quietly "its not a big deal" makes such a massive difference I cant tell you.
This leads on to my theme for November - Be Kind to Yourself. This month I want to build on Octobers resolutions and focus on being kind to myself. I for one am way too hard on myself, constantly stressed, beating myself up about something - and what for? I can tell you first hand it does you absolutely no good. Old habits die hard however but I feel like with the lessons I've learned from this past month I'm well armed to go into November with the firm resolution of being kind to myself. I've been thinking about my resolutions for this month and so far this is what I have:
Sleep Right
Exercise
Eat Well
Drink more water
Stress Less
Stay Present
I may add to these throughout the month but will be back at the end of November to fill you in with how I got on. I'm excited to share my Happiness Project with you - have you ever heard of The Happiness Project before?
