Monday Summary

1. Last Sunday I took part in Bradford Sky Ride, an amazing free cycling event that saw thousands of cyclists take to the traffic free route around the city centre for a fun filled day out. I had an amazing day and I would highly recommend trying out your local Sky Ride, whether you haven't been in the saddle for a while or even if you're a more experienced cyclist, there's something for everyone and there's tons of stuff for kids too. Stay tuned this week for an in depth post all about it.

2. This week has seen me cooking up a storm in the kitchen. From New York themed buns, tasty roast chicken, banana and nutella muffins and one pot spanish chorizo, this weeks eats have been absolutely delicious. I going to try and upload a recipe each week sharing some of the tasty treats I've been trying recently.

3.  My love for yoga continues. I've started making up a beginners yoga playlist where all of my favourite videos are in one place. I plan to add more to it as I go along and you can find it here if you fancy having a little go.

4. I'm going to Leeds Festival this weekend. I'm not camping this time but I'm really looking forward to it.

5. One to follow if you aren't already, the main source of this weeks cooking inspiration: The Londoner

Stila in the Light Palette

If you know anything about me you'll know that neutral eyeshadow is where I'm at.

I've been a fan of both Urban Decay Naked palettes for as long as I can remember, they are my go to eyeshadows and I rarely find myself reaching for anything else.  I love the convenience of having all of my eyeshadows in one place, I'm not one for spending a lot of time of my eyeshadow either, a quick wash of colour is all I need and I'm good to go.

Stila's In the Light pallette has been around for quite a while now, and although its something I've always wanted to get my mitts on, its one of those things I've never  come across when I've been out shopping and I've never had an urge to order it online.

Last week when I was wandering around the aisles in Boots, I passed by the Stila stand, and there she was in all her glory. This was the first time I'd ever seen the palette in a store and it was the last one left. In an instant I snatched it off the shelf and threw it into my basket with complete reckless abandon.

If like me you are rather fond of neutral eyeshadows, this is a gorgeous palette to have in your collection. The eyeshadows themselves are beautifully pigmented, last well and are easy to blend. You have a combination of matte and shimmer shadows and also get a dark brown eyeliner which is lovely too. So far my particular favourites are Kitten (of course) Bare, Bliss, Sunset and Bubbly. The packaging is nice, and the palette itself is light small and compact.

You can create so many looks with this, whether it be a simple wash of colour for the day or a more dramatic evening look - this is a gorgeous palette that I've totally fallen in love with. This now takes pride of place in my make up basket with my other palettes and I find myself reaching for it most mornings.

Do you have the Stila In the Light Palette and do you love it as much as I do?

Scrumptious Steak Sandwich

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is possibly one of the best steak sandwiches I have had. Ever. I had this last week at a BBQ and loved it so much I had to have a go at recreating it at home.

You will need:

  • Panini's
  • Steak of your choice
  • Maille Peppery Sauce (I couldn't find this so had to buy Bearnaise)
  • Rocket, red onion, tomato
  • Mozarella

Prepare your panini with a bed of rocket, sliced red onion, and mozzarella. Craig added mushrooms to his, I didn't bother as I'm not a fan. We also skipped the tomatoes but you can add them if you like

Cook your steak to your liking and pop it on top of the mozzarella

Add a big dollop of your Maille Pepper Sauce (link) and spread it over the steak. We couldn't find the pepper version of this sauce so had to opt for Bearnaise. The pepper sauce definitely works better but this is absolutely delicious too

Et Voila! Its as easy as that. Super simple and super scrumptious. Enjoy!!

Bourjois Goodies

I for one never saw myself as a bright orange nails kinda gal - but what can I say apparently I am.

Last weekend I went mental picked up a few bits in Boots. Bourjois had a 3 for 2 offer on so naturally I took advantage.

First up on my list was the latest offering in the lip crayon department - Color Boost Lip Crayon in #4 Peach on the Beach. A pretty peachy pink, this is most definitely one of the nicer lip crayons I've used. Its a halfway house between a lipstick and a gloss and gives a lovely finish on the lips.

I also picked up this blusher in the shade #34 Rose d'Or. A gorgeous pink with gold running through it I knew right away that I would love this. I've reached for this every day since I bought it two weeks ago which is a testament to how much I love it. I'm also a complete sucker for the cute packaging too.

Last but not least I picked up this 1 Seconde Gel polish in Meli Melon. Although it's not something I would normally go for I'm really glad I did - its the perfect shade for Summer. It kind of reminds me of Mac's "Jazzed" lipstick if any of you remember that? It came out with the Mac In the Groove collection back in the days where Mac collections were something to actually look forward to.
I'm definitely going to try a few more of the Bourjois Nail polishes, this was super easy to apply and has a gorgeous finish. I have my eye on a stunning blue one next - watch out Boots!

Monday Summary

1. I went to a lovely BBQ this weekend to celebrate one of my friends birthdays. Lots of yummy food, fruity cider and laughs were had and it ended sat around the fire toasting marshmallows.

2. I've recently developed a love for yoga. My ultimate goal is to be able to do a handstand but I'm taking it slowly and enjoying it along the way. I've been using Tara Stiles youtube videos which I really love (she has the most relaxing voice ever) but if you have anymore beginners yoga suggestions I'd love to know them

3. Yesterday I spent time in the kitchen listening to The Beatles Come Together whilst baking my favourite banana loaf. It was heavenly, and so chilled. I rarely get the time to potter around my home doing bits and bobs so it's a welcome change to do just that.

4. I also managed to enter the black hole of procrastination that is Tumblr this week - I love how you can just lose yourself for hours on there. You can see mine here. I'd love it if you could recommend your favourite Tumblrs in the comments - I need to get following some more!

5. One to follow this week, the gorgeous Love Audrey

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat

This has been my foundation of choice for the last twelve months or so now, so I thought it was about time to give it the product rave it deserves. YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat *may* have possibly reached holy grail status for me. It gives a light to medium coverage and gives skin a beautiful luminosity. I always feel at my best when I'm wearing this foundation, it makes my skin look healthy, fresh and glowing but without making me look shiny or greasy.

I wear the shade Beige Rose 30 (I'm NW15 in Mac) and in terms of consistency it is much thinner than any of the other foundations I've used, I tend to only use one pump but you could definitely use two if you wanted more coverage. Its very buildable and blends like a dream as its so light.
I have normal skin I would say, so maybe this foundation wouldn't work as well with more oily skin types. It isn't particularly long lasting for me but I dont mind that. A primer/setting powder would probably help it last a little longer but I dont tend to bother.

I'd be interested to see how this compares to Nars Sheer Glow (which I haven't used since I had oily skin many moons ago) Maybe I will try that next but I love this foundation so much it will take some beating. Whenever I war a different foundation I always feel like my skin just doesn't look as nice as it would if I was wearing the Teint Touche Eclat.

This is my second bottle which is nearly empty, I need to decide whether to repurchase another bottle or give Nars Sheer Glow a whirl. What do you think I should do?
