The Running Diaries #1

So this is going to be a weekly post including everything about whats happened this week with me and my half marathon training. As I type this I have just returned from my longest ever run, 4.5 miles. Now considering less than a month ago I couldn't even run 5 minutes without quite literally throwing up, I think this is an amazing achievement. I am so unbelievably proud of myself that no words could do it justice.

My Training Schedule.

So first things first, my training schedule. I have uploaded it to Google Docs so that you can view it and download it. You can find it here.

Running Gear.
So up until today I've been running in a vest top, some baggy sweat pants and the only semi decent running kit I own, which are my old Asics trainers (which aren't that great). Today I finally took the plunge and invested in some lycra. I also got some new training socks and a jacket. I still need to get lots more running gear but for now this is a vast improvement from what I have been running in up to press. Never I repeat never underestimate the power of lycra to make you feel like a "proper" runner. I never thought I'd see the day when I would be wearing lycra, but alas that day has come and I felt so much better in the proper gear, it really does make a big difference. I'm going to talk about trainers and stuff in another post when my new ones arrive, but if you are thinking about getting into running I'd recommend some Capri Pants and a Dry Fit running top.

Monitoring my Performance.

I've been using my iPhone and the Nike Plus GPS App to track my runs. I'm hoping to get an actual Nike Plus Wristband in a couple of weeks, but for now this will do. Its easy to use and relatively cheap from the App store. You can get it and find out more about it here or download it straight from the App store to your phone.

Overall.

I feel fantastic. I never ever thought it would be possible a few weeks ago that I could run 40 minutes straight, and today I did. You should never underestimate your ability to change yourself. I feel like a superhero after I've finished a run. At the start of one of my longer runs I always think, how the hell am I going to get through this, but you know what I always manage to. I'm not saying it isn't without great difficulty. Sometimes I've been running for 10 minutes and I'll be thinking I can't do it I can't do it, but then I turn it around and mentally say to myself Yes you can do it Kelly, its simple just keep on running! And it works!! I've been doing the majority of my training on a treadmill, simply to build my fitness up first because running outside is much harder. I plan on alternating my runs as of next week with indoor and outdoor training. Also a special shout out to all of the Team Bangs on the Run 2 ladies, I had the chance to meet most of them last week and I can confirm that they are all absolutely lovely. I definitely couldn't do this without their and your ongoing support and words of encouragement.

Make sure to check back for next weeks post where I'll be including my current running playlist for you to have a listen to. At the moment music is crucial for me and my training as it really motivates me to keep going.

Believe. Achieve.

You've got a smile that could light up this whole town

Today has been the mother of all unproductive days. The fact that I even got dressed at all is a minor miracle. Hey ho there you go. I've spent most of the day listening to Taylor Swift and basically being busy doing nothing. I fully intend on tidying my bedroom after posting these photos, god knows it needs it. I'll be uploading a tutorial of the make up I wore in yesterdays post for those of you requested it. I'm good like that :) I watched An Idiot Abroad for the first time last night. It's official. I'm in love with Karl Pilkington. I'm going to have a another marathon and watch the rest of the episodes tonight whilst drinking and eating copious amounts of tea and sugar free jelly in equal measures.

Monday Summary

I type this as I lay in my bed, red hot, absolutely shattered. Its only 8.30pm and it feels like its close to midnight. This week has seen me training hard on the running front. Proud doesn't even come close to how I feel with my efforts. I will be doing a weekly post called "The Running Diaries" documenting all of my trials and tribulations through my half marathon training. I thought this would be helpful for both myself and those of you who were interested in running and how I'm getting on. In the first post I will be uploading my training schedule, and I'm going to somehow make it so you can download it (still havn't figured out how to do this) but it will be up in the next couple of days.

I had a fantastic weekend, took full advantage of the glorious weather and had a BBQ on Sunday. Friday and Saturday involved plenty of alcohol consumption and laughter. All in all, life is good people, life is good.

PS Todays Soundtrack is Ed Sheeran, who I am currently obsessed with. If you havn't already heard some of his stuff have a listen, he's awesome.

Monday Summary

Another week, another Monday Summary. Firstly todays outfit photos and some photos collected from the past week.

I went to Manchester on Thursday to meet my wonderful friends Gemma and Nicola. So much love for those girls. We put the world to rights over lunch for a few hours then headed to the DermaQuest Skincare Launch. After that being the rebels that we are we got turfed out of Wetherspoons because one of us didn't have our ID - and wait for it, wanted an apple juice. Unbelievable right? Not impressed with you Wetherspoons!

I also lost 3lbs this week at Slimming World, and really do feel myself getting back to the old me! I've also been running too and will upload my training schedule in the next couple of days for those of you who are interested. Today I ran my first full mile without stopping. It may not sound like much but for me this was a really big achievement and I'm really proud of myself.

I'm also well on track for my book a week for a year challenge! I've read two books this week; One Day and also Who Moved my Cheese? I will be uploading reviews for them this week too.

Here's to another fab week!

Steal my sunshine

I woke up this morning to a dead fish. RIP Nina! Its only a matter of time until Pete suffers the same fate! Its been an absolutely gorgeous day up north today, so I saw a perfect opportunity to take some photos in the sun. Todays make up was all about the black eyeliner. I rarely wear liner on my waterline but fancied switching it up a little today. Cue several photos of me posing in the sun. For reference my brother John takes all of my photographs and none of these have been edited whatsoever. I should also add he isn't a professional photographer (a few of you have asked) He prefers to stay behind the camera so getting a photo of him is more or less impossible! Also this is my hair in its completely natural state, some may say its messy. My response? Whatevs :)

My brother, Love you John John!!
