Never underestimate your power to change yourself - Team Bangs on the Run 2

So this morning I woke up, checked my email and found out I'd been selected for Team Bangs on the Run. If you're not aware of this its a team of women selected by the legend that is Bangs to run a half marathon together and raise money for charity. I applied a few weeks ago when I was in the depths of despair, never thinking in a million years I'd be chosen! Well I had a shock this morning when I woke up to find that I had in fact been selected and I'll be running the Run to the Beat Half Marathon in London this September.

I can't believe it. I'm so scared, nervous, and excited. I've always talked the talk about wanting to run a half marathon, and now the time has come to walk the walk. Or more literally run the marathon. I'm going to be using a training plan from Zest and starting my training tomorrow. Wow typing that feels so surreal. I am actually training for a marathon. I'll be tweeting and updating all of my progress along the way on here if you're interested in following.

Game. On.

Monday Summary

The response I had to last weeks summary was overwhelming. I had no idea that it would provoke such heartfelt and loving comments, and I just want to thank you all for that. I often want to write my musings on life on here but never know whether or not you would want to read? I'm conscious of being too deep, and try to keep the feel of my blog light and not too serious. I do however love to write, all kinds of different things, so maybe I'll do just that :)

Today was absolutely freezing up north. I had to whip out this lovely little jumper that I bought from New Look back in winter. I also had to straighten my hair, which I wasn't happy about. I'm not a fan of limp hair. Bring on the volume and lots of it.

Make up:
Chanel Mat Lumiere Foundation
Can't remember which Mascara I'm using a couple up at the moment (sorry)
Nars Sabrina Lip Balm (Discontinued boo!)
Nars Orgasm Blush
Nails VERY messy Barry M Raspberry

Thomas Sabo Eiffel Tower Necklace
Thomas Sabo Charm Bracelet - even though my Dad put it on the wrong way around for me this morning so they're all back to front :)

1. I went to see Pete Doherty on Thursday and it was by far the best night of this year so far. Seriously. He was absolutely incredible. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but I personally love him. I think he is such a talented poet and musician despite his demons, and I can not wait to see him again in September. There was something quite bittersweet about the fact that he got sent to prison the morning after the gig. Especially as it was a completely spur of the moment decision to go. I literally found out he was playing the O2 Academy in Leeds at about 4.30pm and decided to go and get there for 7pm. I feel lucky to have been able to see him, and managed to record a few videos on my phone. This is one of my favourite songs and I managed to record the whole thing :)

2. I don't know if I mentioned before but I'm attempting to learn to play the guitar! I've always wanted to play and I've actually had a guitar for about 5 years now. I just couldn't afford to both piano lessons and guitar lessons at the same time. I'm going to take advantage of a few of my friends who play and see what I can pick up from them. One thing I've already learnt though is that I'm going to have to toughen up. After about half an hour my fingers literally felt like they were bleeding. If you know any good websites or anything for the likes of me looking to teach themselves how to play please pop them in the comments and I'll love you forever!

3. I've been doing a lot of mental shopping this week. I absolutely hate not having any money. I'd go as far as saying I hate it with a passion. So far I want a Kindle, a Roberts Revival DAB Radio, and the Sugar Mary Jane Platforms from Topshop. Rather modest dont you think?

4. I have got so many blog posts I want to do. I'm going to try and get lots of them up this week. I've been super busy at the moment but things are slowly starting to get back to normal, so all being well I'll be able to get  a couple of them up this week.

5. My Raybans finally arrived! Will share them with you in tomorrows post :)

Monday Summary one more time with feeling..

Not alot happened this week. Although I did learn a few things...

1. Many of us have almost mastered the art of convincing ourselves we are unhappy when in reality we have happiness in the palm of our hands. Its only when you look back that you realise how happy you truly were. Usually by this point its far too late and an irrecoverable amount of damage has already been done. If you can go back to how things were, then you are the exception. Not the rule.

2. Regularly cleansing and moisturising your skin makes a difference. A big one at that. I stopped my skin care routine for a couple of weeks (this wasn't intentional) and my skin ended up a royal mess. I've started using my favourite products again and voila.. happy skin. I will upload my skin care post this week. Promise.

3. The Dukan Diet is hard. Really hard. Commence at your peril. I've kind of modified it and put my own spin on it and its working for me. Chowing down of a can of tuna like a cat for lunch in front of my colleagues, well you can imagine how that went down. Throw a bit of salad on the side and everyones a winner.

4. At some point of your life you will make a mistake. A big one. You will undoubtedly make one bad decision and spend hours filled with regret. You will also feel a sadness like you have never felt before. I now know what it feels like to feel this type of sadness and I never thought it was possible to feel this way. Now don't be alarmed this isn't a negative post, far from it. I learnt this week that although we have the power to well and truly screw things up, we also have the power to make things better again. I've learnt that picking yourself up from the floor when you are down isn't the easiest thing to do in the world. But it is possible, and its even more possible to come out of it on the other side. All you have to do is try. Ghandi said that whatever you do in your life will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it. I'm inclined to agree with him, because as each day, week, month goes by it gets easier to live with those bad decisions, and easier to live life.

5. Made in Chelsea is a modern day tragedy. Fact.

Ps. Adam if you ever read this, I'm sorry...

EDIT: Read the comments.

Photo Diary

I've been without my camera this week, so I've had to make do with my crappy iphone for taking photographs. I tried my best though. So here's how this week went: lots of nice food, new tattoo; I plan on getting another in a couple of weeks, I just need to find some space left somewhere on my body to have it done, guitar hero, spur of the moment ebay purchase in the form of an Angelina Jolie with a bust lip t shirt, Manchester for drinks and Halo launch night resulting in me having feather extensions and relaxing outside Hard Rock Cafe having a vodka or 5 with Nicola, Mums trifle, buying my brother his first suit, chicken fajitas, intense meetings with the bank, making myself look pretty, followed by no make up and messy hair the next day. I kind of love my hair the messier the better. I really love how it is at the moment, less is more for realz! I'm starting my new hardcore diet and fitness regime tomorrow. I plan on attempting the Dukan Diet, hey if its good enough for Kate Middleton its good enough for me! I'm also planning on training at the gym for 30 minutes a day 5 times a week. Sounds extreme I know but I really need a kick up the backside to get myself into gear and feeling fitter and healthier for summer. I got lots of questions on twitter last night about how I styled my hair in the first photo below. As always with my trusty conical wand, it never fails. Ever. Make up was super simple, Mac SFF and Hue lipstick, Nars Orgasm Blush, Rimmel Liquid Eyeliner, and Maybelline Colossal Mascara. Simples!

Oral B Challenge Round Up

So you may remember last month I told you I was contacted to take part in the Oral B Challenge. After months of using my normal toothbrush I jumped at the chance to give the Oral B P-500 a whirl.

After a month of using it I can safely say that I genuinely feel like I have seen an improvement in my oral hygiene overall. I like the way the toothbrush has a timer so it tells you how long you should be brushing your teeth for. I can safely say before using this I didn't brush my teeth for nowhere near the recommended two minutes you are supposed to. I feel like I'm brushing my teeth forever haha! Compared to when I used my old traditional toothbrush, my teeth just feel so much more squeaky clean. If you're interested in trying this particular toothbrush you can get one here.

This post was sponsored by Oral B as part of their Handpicked Media Campaign.

Monday Summary

I've been rubbish on the photo front this week I'm afraid. Can you forgive me? I hope so! I've spent this weekend pretty much looking like a smelly old tramp. It had to be done.

1. I moved out of home and in with my best friend. Cue bags of clothes, cheese on toast and bottles of vodka. It was much harder than I thought but I'm sure with time I will adjust to not being at home with my parents and dog.

2. Have any of you ever watched Californication? One of my friends introduced me to it this week and its basically awesome. I'm completely hooked! I've got 4 series to get through which makes me happy.

Sorry this post is short and sweet. I don't really have much to say today xx
