Happy birthday Kelanjo and 15 Random Questions!

I can't believe that my blog is 2 years old today! I love blogging. I have made so many friends and met more wonderful people than I thought possible through my blog. I love the fact that in years to come I will be able to look back through my posts and relive memories, thoughts, feelings, revisit places through my photographs, and hear songs that I loved at a given time. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who read my blog, and take the time to leave comments, supporting, advising, and just being generally lovely. I thought it was appropriate after reading the 15 random questions on Victorias blog that I could include it in this post, and I just wanted to carry the tag on too as I really enjoyed reading it. Please give this tag ago yourself and spread the love :) Here's to another year!

1) What is your dream job?
I've always wanted to work for a magazine, like this would be *the* dream. Being from up North makes fulfilling this dream a little tricky, as it will mean leaving everything behind and upping sticks and moving to London. Also the fact that one of the only ways in is to intern makes it even more difficult. Theres no way I could live in london alone, feed myself and pay my way whilst interning, so the other option is to save up. Lots.

2) What is your favourite fragrance for Winter?
My favourite winter fragrance is definitely Gucci by Gucci. My other favourite fragrance which I wear all year round despite it being a "wintery" fragrance is Givenchy Ange ou Demon. It's sensual and sexy, just how I like my perfumes.

3) How do you take your tea/coffee?
If you know anything about me its that I'm more or less defined by a cup of tea. I take it with 2 sweeteners and a dash of milk, preferably skimmed. The colour of a California Tan.

4) What is your most important beauty secret?
Not sure if its a beauty secret but never underestimate the power of good brows. They really frame your face. I say the bigger the better.

5) If you had an all expenses paid vacation, where would you go?
New York. I've wanted to go for a while, but when I go I want to do it right. I want to go for  2 weeks, and not have to worry about how much money I'm spending.

6) If a genie popped up in your lap right now and offered you three wishes, what would you ask?
Well 1: That my friends and family are completely happy and healthy, 2:  That I'd become a millionaire over night, 3: That I'd lose the weight I've been battling with for years and that it would stay off for good.

7) If you could only have breakfast, lunch, dinner or desert foods for the rest of your life, what would you pick?
Definitely Dinner. We in Yorkshire call our evening meal "Tea" and our Lunch "Dinner" I'd definitely have to have an evening meal, I dont enjoy eating first thing in a morning, give me a cuppa tea and a biscuit and I'm good to go, I have to force myself to eat breakfast. Lunch is always a bit blah for me so I'd definitely have to say Dinner.
8) If you were Hello Kitty what colour hair bow would you wear?
Going to be totally obvious here and say Pink!

9) What is your biggest makeup pet peeve?
Not sure if this is "make up" as such but really badly done, really orange fake tan really gets my goat. When I see girls with orangey brown patchy hands that basically look dirty I honestly think to myself Do they really think that looks good? Did they look in a mirror before leaving the house?

10) If you could wear only one piece of jewellery for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A watch without a doubt. No particular watch but I wear a watch every single day without fail.

11) What one talent do you wish you had?
I think it would be nice if I could sing well. I play the piano and I'd love to be able to sing along when I'm playing. The truth of the matter is I'm an appalling singer. Well apart from when I'm in the car on my own and belting out my best Nina Simone rendition out.

12) Which product will you continue to purchase?
Perfume. I think smelling nice is important as a woman. Maybe thats a bit weird but I really do think its a given that women should smell good.

13) If you could look into the future, would you? And what would you like to know?
I think I would, although I'd be scared of what I see. I'd like to know where I'll be in 5 years time, what job I'd be doing, although I'd be scared of looking and seeing myself trapped in some job that I hate living for the weekend. I'd also like to look further in the future to see if I ever will have children. I dont want children, not for a long time anyway, so I'd like to see if one day my maternal side will take over and I'll have kids.
In a way I can imagine a world there will be 2 girls 1 boy, they'd all play instruments and go to after school clubs. We'll live in a chocolate box house in the prettiest village you can imagine. We'll have dogs, and a pond in the back garden, I'll drink tea made in a teapot and  bake cakes at the weekend. I'll learn to like wine, and G&T, and in an evening I will sit in my favourite chair with a glass of red and a good book...

14) Who is your biggest celebrity crush? Include a picture!
Well this isn't difficult, it has to be Johnny Depp. Yes. Please.

15) What made you start a blog?
I found Lollipop26 on Youtube, and after watching her video's I found her blog. I slowly started finding more bloggers and then joined the wonderful world of Twitter. Before I knew it I had started my own. The rest as they say is history...

York Photo Diary

As promised here are the photographs from our trip to York. I've been quite a few times and I still love it each time I return. It really is a lovely city full of history and charm. If you've never been before you must visit sometime.

Emergency Purchases

So today I went off to York with the family to treat my Mum for her birthday, I took lots of photos so will post some of them over the next couple of days. I had no idea how cold it was going to be walking around the streets of York all day, so I had to make some "emergency" purchases. You know the type, you are so cold you have no choice but to by a new hat/scarf/gloves/cardigan/ maybe even a new coat in order to keep warm. Please excuse my messy kitchen and the slightly disheveled look I have about me, I've been walking around in the cold all day.

I was so super cold I decided to grab a cardigan, but after looking in Topshop and New Look none of the cardigans were impressing me. So I decided on a little cream jumper instead. I was actually going to buy a similar jumper a few months ago from Topshop but decided against it because I couldn't get my size. It's perfect for putting over things, like the Peter Pan collar blouse I was wearing today. It would also look really sweet over a peter pan collar dress (must get one of these soon).

Later on in the day in proceeded to get even colder so a scarf was essential. Obviously! After nipping into a few shops I finally decided on this leopard print number from River Island. It had £10 off so was £14.99 which I think is a great price for the scarf. Its gorgeous, really snug and warm, and I like that one side is just simple beige. I dont own a leopard scarf either so I basically thought it was meant to be. I also tried on a fur leopard hat with little ears and pom poms. I loved it, although I think I was going a step too far. *I'm secretly hoping someone buys this for me so I can be diminished of all responsibility*

Last but not least another little treat that Adam bought me wasn't technically an emergency purchase, just a necessary one. My new ipod is already getting scratched to bits and its impossible to find nice cases for the classic 160gb ipod. So whilst in Cath Kidston today I picked up this gadget case that my ipod fits in snug as a bug. Its cute. I like it.

So thats it, I hope you've all had a lovely weekend so far and I'll be updating lots of photos tomorrow. What do you think of my emergency purchases, and have you ever done the same?

So tonight after reading Alix's Nail Tutorial I had to give it a go myself. I went straight to WHSmiths and bought some Hole Reinforcers. Seriously thats what they are called, I had to ask the assistant to help me find them and I described them as "those things that you put on paper in your ring binder to make the holes stronger." Now I know the technical name for them, and so do you haha.

So in a nutshell you paint your nails with the base colour you want your half moons to be, then apply the hole reinforcers (cut into halves) then paint your top colour over. Thats it. I love it. I also did it in a gold and green like Alix's original tutorial but I think my gold just wasn't the right shade. I really want a nice true gold polish so if you have any idea's please let me know.

In the end I went with clear and red. I absolutely love it. I think I'm going to wear my nails like this for a month. At least. Give it a go, its super easy and I really love the effect it gives. What do you think?
