Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara

I know what you're thinking, I'm way behind when it comes to this mascara. Lots of people love it. I dont. There was a bit of a buzz around this particular mascara some time ago, and I tried it back then and didnt like it. I decided to give it another whirl along with some other bits I got from Max Factor and I'm still not sure.

This mascara is extremely thickening and lengthening, and I'm absolutely positive that the majority of you would love this mascara. However for me, I'm not a huge fan of plastic wands, and I think that the applicator brush itself is really large, and tricky to maneuver. As you know I already have long lashes, and when I apply this I get black transferred onto the skin below my brows, which lets face it, is never a good look. However I do think this is partly due to the ridiculous length of my lashes, I swear they're out of control! They are actually catching on my glasses so I might have to trim them haha!

I really dont like giving products bad reviews, as I think its pretty pointless and I like to avoid negativity wherever possible on my blog, and although I do think that lots of you will love this mascara, I'm not sure I would repurchase. Anyway I digress, the point of this post is that I'm in need of a new mascara, and I need your recommendations! It can be high end or lower end I'm open to anything! I was thinking about Lancome Hypnose? What do you think?

And a little FYI - The Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara is almost identical to the Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara in the USA. The two companies are sister companies and the product is essentially the same product marketed as two different products. I've heard rumours that the formulation is slightly different but anyhow, if you've always wanted to try the Lash Blast, give the False Lash a go first, the packaging, wand and everything is identical.

  1. I LOVE Rimmel!! It's the red one, can't remember what it's called. I love it, i have long lashes too but i don't ever seem to have problems with it. Nice price too xo

  2. Just looking at the wand I don't think I'd buy it! There is barely any length to the bristles that it just looks like a plastic stick with some mascara at the end :/
I don't know about Hypnose but I would definitely recommend Lancome Virtuose - the wand is curved and reaches every lash. I am definitely getting that again. Lancome oscillation mascara, however, was the biggest waste of money I've ever spent! I'm such a sucker for gimmicks! x

  3. I love YSL Faux Cils, it doesn't do much in the way of lengthening, it's definately more of a volumizing mascara for me so maybe it will work really well with your lashes :)

  6. I've wanted to try this for a while, I just love the look of the brush! I know what you mean about your lashes brushing on your glasses - it's such a weird feeling! Lovely review, and your lashes look fab! xo

  7. What's weird is that I hated False Lash Effect when I first tried it - I agree with you that the brush is hard to use. But when I was working in America this summer I repurchased Covergirl Lash Blast twice and loved it! x

  8. I love Lancome Hypnose, it's HG for me and I have long lashes like you :) I didn't like the max factor mascara much. Give it a try, I think it's fab! xx

  9. Ugh, I got that mascara once and I agree...it's horrible to manouver and it's too thick. I really recommend the (sorry, I can't remember the name!) red rimmel one, it's amazing! x

  10. I really love the Max Factor one, but I love their 2000 calorie one as well... I actually think mascara is such a difficult product to review - everyone is so different in what they like and want from it!

  11. I really like Maybelline Colossal, the one with the bright yellow tube.
I'm actually using maxfactor false lash effect atm as I read a good review about it, but like you I don't really like it, especially in comparison to the maybelline one. It has a nice brush wand and not plasticy and stumpy like this one. And it's pretty cheap as well :) xx

  12. I've been meaning to try lashblast but the wand really does not appeal to me. Have you tried Revlon 3D extreme? It really thickens and separates the lashes, but doesn't do much for length so maybe it will be a good fit for you. The formula is quite dry too so it's not messy =)

  13. i love lancome hypnose, i dabbled with a lot of mascaras and this is the one i always come back to... its a little pricey but i end up throwing cheaper ones away because i don't like them so it is worth it for me :D

  14. I have wanted to try false lash effect for ages purely because of the hype around it, but I am not sure about the wand I tend to prefer more bristly wands. I love L'oreal Voluminous. Your lashes do look amazing with the max factor on though. x

  15. i dislike plastic wands too and my recommendations are:

    diorshow blackout (extreme party lashes)
ysl faux cils (dries up fast though)
clinique high impact (bit like the diorshow but cheaper and not as pigmented)
clinique high definition curling (very wet but does definitely curl)
