I have no Self Control.....

Yes thats right...No Self Control... AT ALL.

So as I harmlessly perused the aisles of Superdrug today in search of Nivea Young Skin Tinted Moisturiser, A couple of other things just "slipped" into my basket :) Obviously I had to share them with you! I will do full reviews as soon as I have had chance to use them properly.

So first things first, The Nivea Young Tinted Moisturiser, This is an Oil Free Formula which is really important for me and is basically what it says it is, a tinted moisturiser, I have tested it and so far I have to say it pretty much offers zero coverage but does add colour to the skin. I got it in shade Natural. I am going to wear it to work tomorrow so will get a true idea of what it is really like.

I really really want to buy Laura Mercier's Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser, but at £35 I just can not justify it. If there is anyone out there and owns this in Nude and would be willing to send me a small sample, I would be willing to send payment for postage via paypal. Its just I dont want to buy some and hate it, and there isnt a Laura Mercier counter remotely near me so I will have to order online. If there is anyone out there please leave a comment below or email me at kelanjo19@aol.com

Next was something I have been lusting after for a LONG time. I first saw it on DressJunkies blog but have for some reason never been able to shell out over £6 on a nail polish (I know call me a tight arse lol). Today I finally took the plunge and bought it and it is this bad boy...

Revlons Tropical Temptation, isnt this just gorgeous?? I have seen this on a few other blogs too and everyone seems to love it. I can't wait to try it, and I think its a fab colour to take on holiday with me!

Finally is this GOSH "Touch Up" Concealer in Shade 2. Zoe at Zoella absolutely loves this concealer so I had to give it a try. I am still suffering with awful under eye circles so fingers crossed this will help disguise them.

I will keep you posted on how I get on with these products, but on another note ( feel a rant coming on) Why the Hell do Superdrug feel the need to literally abuse the packaging of make up products with these God Awful Security Labels?? You girls know exactly what I'm talking about, just look at the state of my new concealer.

And then I tried to remove it this is what happened... Yes that "wirey" thing is what's left of the label!

I'm now left with a sticky residue all over the lid of the concealer which is just gross, and this has happened quite a few times before with these damn security labels.

Superdrug.. You need to Sort it Out!!!

Tag: Most Worn

I was tagged by the gorgeous Zoe to do the "Most Worn Tag" :) This was really difficult for some of the things lol but here goes...

Lipstick

Well this has to be Mac Politely Pink. It was the first ever lipstick I bought from Mac and the one I love the most. For me this is THE perfect lipstick as it doesn't dry out or cling to my dry skin on my lips :) I LOVE it just as much as when I first bought it.

Earrings

Although incredibly boring these are my most worn Earrings, just a classic plain silver hooped earring goes with most outfits , I do have lots of more fancy earrings but these just seem to be the ones I have worn most over the past 5 years.

Dress/Top

Well although it is a recent purchase it is genuinely my most worn dress. Its this gorgeous flowery dress from New Look. I would wear it every day if I thought I would get away with it lol.

Nail Polish

This one was quite difficult as I dont really have one specific nail polish I have always used other than the Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Clear Polish. I have raved about this forever and I really do love it! Anohter of my favourite polishes though is Starlet by Rimmel.

Shoes

My favourite shoes are honesly plain white pumps, I literally live in them, this is more or less all I wear! The ones pictured have sadly had to be thrown away as I have worn them that much they stink LOL. I have a nice new white and pink pair from River Island now :)

Hair Product

I have mentioned this before and it is the VO5 Heat Protection Spray. I have used this product consistently for the past few years, so although it isnt the most exciting It is my most worn.

Perfume

Has to be my trusty Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. I just love how feminine this fragrance is and it can be worn day or night :) I will be most definitely repurchasing this when I run out. My other most worn perfume is Hugo Deep Red which I have worn since I was around 14 however I dont have any at the moment, I will be getting some Duty Free at the Airport next week though :D

Handbag

You guessed it, my most used bag is my Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30. I got this as a Christmas Gift from Adam around 2 years ago and I have used it so many times since I got it. I truly believes every girl needs a Louis Vuitton Speedy Bag in her Life :D

Its That Time of Year Again.....

Ok Girls, You all know what I'm talking about. Its that time of year again when we start preparing our bodies for the summer. The process of Exfoliating, Dry body Brushing and Moisturising gets into full force and we all try to make ourselves as Beach Beautiful as we can.

Well I am going on holiday in less than a fortnight, and today I got a little bit of money so I thought I would go out and get some supplies. I have never bought these kind of products before and to be totally honest I'm not 100% sure on how well they will work, but the beauty addict that I am I thought "They have to be worth a try don't they??"

So I have heard a lot of good things of several Beauty Bloggers about Dry Body brushing, so I picked up two "Body Brushes" both from The Body Shop. The first one is a traditional wooden all over Body Brush, the second is a Cellulite Massager and is made of a hard Plastic/Rubber material.

I do have really bad cellulite on my bum and thighs, and I am very self conscious about it. I have suffered with it all of my life and even though I have lost a significant amount of weight, I still have noticeable cellulite.

The Body Shop are also having a half price sale at the moment so I picked up this product.

This is Body Focus Cellulite Serum, and was luckily reduced by 50% or I wouldn't have bought it. This can be used in conjunction with my new Cellulite Massager and "Visibly improves the appearance and texture of dimpled skin".

I will be using these products from now until I go on holiday and will definitely keep you posted on how the brushes and serum work :)

Has anyone else used any Cellulite Treatments that have worked?

The Devil Incarnate - 1

So this is going to be a weekly feature on my blog where I will basically be discussing whatever is annoying/aggravating/ or generally just being the bane of my life each week.

The Devil Incarnate means the Epitome of Evil lol which might be a bit strong, but was the only thing I could think of to entitle this series of posts :)

So what is being the Devil Incarnate this week???

Well its these bad boys. The Co operative Honey Roasted Peanuts and Cashews.

Oh.....My......God....

I actually don't think words can explain how nice these are. To give you an idea I personally scranned the full bag over two days (Not bad to say I was only going to have a couple lol.)

I honestly don't know why I bought these, I knew when checking the Nutritional Values how crazily bad they are for you but still bought them knowing full well I would probably eat them all lol.

For someone out there like me who is on a diet or healthy eating regime eating an entire bag of these is a Cardinal Sin. Everything is ok in moderation but this just takes it to a whole other level.

So now I now know not to buy these nuts at all, Its all or nothing with me and unfortunately with 315 Calories and 5 grams of Saturated Fat per half a bag, which is more than most of my meals, it has to be nothing.

If you fancy some nice nuts these are for you but for me these devilish little things have royally screwed my diet over, and as a result will probably show at the scales tomorrow Boo!!

What Can I say....They were good while they lasted! :D

OOTD :)

Here we have an Outfit of The Day for you girlies! Well technically its an outfit of the night as I wore it to go and see Transformers at the cinema - which is absolutely amazing in my opinion!

Since losing weight I have gained so much more confidence to wear dresses and skirts. Something I would never have dreamed of wearing when I was 42 pounds heavier.

I can not explain how liberating it is to be able to wear whatever clothes I want and not feel basically like a fat person trying to wear a slim persons clothes. Sounds stupid but honestly thats how I felt. It saddens me immensely to remember how truly depressed I was when I was extremely overweight, and I was in total denial for a long time.

Looking at pictures of myself in clothes like these makes me incredibly happy and reminds me of just how far I have come on my journey.

The vest top is from New Look, the skirt is from Matalan YES Matalan LOL and I teamed it with white pumps to dress it down abit. I then threw in a plain white cardigan from Next and my Louis Vuitton Damier Azur for good measure :)

FOTD and The Beauty of Airbrushing

Below is a very simple Face of the Day I thought I would share with you. I really like this look and it consists of two Number 17 Eyeshadows from Boots that I received as a Contest Prize from the lovely Talluluh Bella (Another Blogpost to follow about this). It is a simple coppery eye paired with a pale pink lip, and personally I love it :)

I also wanted to share with you a little contraption my lovely Samsung Camera has to offer. My camera has a Beauty Shot Option which basically Airbrushes any imperfections from the photo. I tested this out to show you all earlier and the results are rather amazing to be honest.

The photo below is taken using the "Beauty Shot" Setting and you can see quite a staggering difference between this shot and the one above. The main difference is it makes me appear quite a bit paler than I am in reality, but also you will see my Under Eye Circles and Imperfections are non existent. My face basically looks flawless (with the old camera trickery lol).

This allows me to see what i would look like if i started getting a good nights sleep, and this week I am setting myself a Challenge to be in bed (and actually asleep) by 11pm.
My skin also looks plumper, which is enticing me to start drinking more water again!

I think this is quite a good feature for a camera, and there really is a significant difference! Although I'm not totally sure how often I would use the Beauty Shot Feature.

What do you all think? Can you tell the difference as much as I can??

Today I received some goodies from Eyeko after winning a contest on Twitter! I thought this was very kind and generous of Eyeko and the goodies arrived within a week!

So I received a couple of products that I was genuinely planning on buying which is a definite bonus! I got the Touch up and Glow Highlighter which i think will be fabulous for the summer, and Touch Up and Go Concealer, I'm always in the need of good concealers as I use a lot of it due to my under eye circles, Girls you know how i hate the "bags" under my eyes.. So we'll see how this tackles them :D

They also threw in a couple of cleansing face wipes for me to try :)

I will be posting reviews on these items over the next couple of weeks after trying them out!

Heres todays Face of the Day :) I am really loving the coppery/ bronze eyeshadow. It is something I have NEVER tried before and to be honest I don't know why because I Love it! I used The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes Palette 06 and used the Honey Comb and Marshmallow Shades. I paired it with simple foundation and GOSH Darling on the lips.

Whats your favourite make up look?

My favourite make up look is simple foundation, bronzer and blush with my signature winged black liquid eyeliner and lashings of mascara. It is the look that suits me the most and doesn't take much effort to do. I can do it within 5 minutes some mornings. Also it can be pulled off both through the day and in the evening :)

Do you have a beauty vice?

Yes, I have been known to go on the odd sunbed or two in the past, even though they are ridiculously bad for you. I in no way suggest any of you do this. Other than that I would say I buy far too many foundations, whether they be high end or drugstore, I am constantly in search of the "perfect" foundation.

What part of your body do you love?

Ermm to be honest I don't love any part of my body, I f i had to chose something I would probably say my hands. They allow me to make/play great music :D

Who is your beauty icon?

Audrey Hepburn, without a doubt, Her whole look epitomises style for me. I think her look and style was absolutely timeless and she was very naturally beautiful with it.

What beauty product makes you instantly feel sexy?

I wouldn't say it makes me feel "sexy" but it would have to be Mascara. I luckily dont "have" to wear foundation, I don't look much different with/without it, The main reason I use it is to cover my imperfections and smooth out my skin tone. Therefore if there would be one product I would reach for that would transform a look I would say Black Mascara would be it.

How do you look after your skin?

I don't like using too many products on my skin, To be honest I think its unnecessary. I use Johnsons Baby Wipes or Simple Face Wipes to remove my make up. I then Cleanse with a Neutrogena Cleansing Face Wash, and Exfoliate with a Neutrogena Exfoliating Wash. I use Garnier Pure A Moisturiser which I have been using for a few months now. I'm onto my third bottle and I really like it, I still need to do a review so look out for that.

What is your signature scent

I don't have one signature scent I have lots and lots of perfume, Some of my favourite scents are Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue, Juicy Couture, Versace (Original) Kenzo Amour, and Next Paradise.

What are your hair care secrets?

Herbal Essences Shampoo and Conditioner and VO5 Heat Protection Spray. I have used several High End and Drug Store Branded Hair Care products and I always come back to these products. Herbal Essences is personally the best Shampoo and Conditioner I have used (I use the one in the light blue bottle). Whenever I use it my hair feels stronger and healthier. Also out of all of the Heat Protection Sprays I have used, the VO5 is the one that leaves my hair not feeling greasy after use.

How do you pamper yourself?

I very rarely pamper myself at a beauty salon or nail salon. I used to enjoy having acrylic nails but vowed never to have them done again after they completely annihilated my natural nails. I would say I pamper myself by having my Hair done at the Hairdressers. I have a full head of highlights usually which takes a good few hours and can be quite expensive. So that is how i would say I pamper myself.

What is your beauty pet peeve?

Hmm where to start lol, wrongly matched foundation with a different neck colour when compared to the face, too much fake tan, Gloops of eyeliner in the corner of the eyes (eurgh disgusting lol)

What would your desert island must haves be?

Oooh I would say Pepsi Max and Ice, Hair Bobbles and Hair Bands, Mascara, some kind of Translucent Powder and Vaseline :) Oh and almost forgot deodorant!

Finally, do you have a beauty philosophy?

I think real beauty lies within and if you are confident in yourself that shines through and other people see your true beauty. I don't think you should feel like you have to "paint" a mask of make up on every day, sometimes you just need a slick of powder, blush, mascara and lip gloss and your ready for the day! :D

NOTD - Bloom Nail Paint in Kate - Review

So heres another quick review and Nail of the Day post for you all. As mentioned in my Youtube Video whilst shopping on Saturday I picked up a nail polish i saw in Lollipop26's favourite nail polish video.

As soon as I saw it I loved it, The most gorgeous pale blue colour, I had to have it.

So last night I painted my nails and the love sadly disappeared.

I struggled immensely to paint my nails with this polish when applying it, This lies partly with the fact that I am quite the novice when it comes to painting my nails and can never really be bothered spending lots of time waiting inbetween coats drying. The other problem is that this polish is in my opinion very thick in consistency and requires 2 coats to get the lovely opaque colour I desire. Because the polish is so thick it seemed to take forever to dry, which is never good.

Also, the colour is more or less exactly the same as a polish I already have and have already blogged about. Barry M Nail Paint in Turquoise. There is only a very minimal difference in colour in my opinion, with the Bloom Polish being slightly paler in colour.

I do love the colour but it doesn't look how I imagined it would.

Finally this polish was £8 which I think is very expensive for a drug store Nail Polish. I didn't realise how much it cost before i took it to the till and probably wouldn't have bought it if I had seen the price before hand.

This is an Ok polish, but sadly I would recommend if you want a polish in this colour, opt for the Barry M in Turquoise or go and spend your money on a China Glaze or OPI Polish.

The Body Shop - Body Butters - A Review

So I thought the best way to start my Body Shop Review Series was to start with a product I have used and loved for many years. I hinted at this in my last post, so I thought I would kick off with this.

I assume that you have all heard of The Body Shop Body Butters, they have gained quite a reputation for being some of the best body butters available, but for those of you who have not here is a photo and quick outline of what they are.

The Body Shop Body Butters are basically a moisturiser but in a much richer form, providing maximum moisturisation for the skin. The range of different scents/fragrances is astounding with something for everyone in my opinion. The Body Shop also offer matching Exfoliating Scrubs and Shower Gels in the matching fragrance which is also really nice.

So The Body Butters I have in varying sizes are, Strawberry, Wild Cherry, Shea Butter, Coconut, Cocoa Butter and Mango. As I have said previously I have used these Butters for several years, since I was around 13 years old when my Mum first introduced me to The Body Shop Products. The first one I ever owned was Coconut and I absolutely Loved it, and I love it just as much today nearly 10 years later.

I have to say the formulation of these body butters does vary. For example The Shea Butter is quite "hard" in texture whereas the Cherry and Strawberry ones are more of a traditional liquid moisturiser texture to them.

By hard i mean they are more "solid" rather than liquid, I'm sure those of you who have used these butters before know exactly what I mean.

The thing I like about these butters is that they provide intense moisturisation, and really do help eliminate dry skin. They leave the skin feeling lovely and soft.

However I have found that after application the butter does not "sink in" straight away, Leaving a kind of film on the skin. Within 30 minutes or so it has totally sunk in and leaves the skin feeling gorgeous. So bear this in mind if you are applying it just before you go out on the town after a shower, You dont want to feel all slimey when someone brushes past you lol :)

Another tip I would like to share is that these butters are excellent for the nails. I like to apply a small amount to my cuticles and rub it in, I find it really helps them and leaves them looking lovely!

I absolutely love these Body Butters and I know I'm not alone in this notion! They come in a range of sizes starting from £4.85 for a smaller tub and £12.20 for a large tub. So if you havn't already tried these butters i urge you to do so :) You wont be disappointed!

Oh and by the way my favourite is Strawberry :D I love it!

Exciting News :)

So The Body Shop have very kindly sent me a selection of products to try out and review for them :)

However I have to say that I have always been a fan of The Body Shop Products and already have quite a few products in my collection, You can expect Honest and Frank reviews of the products whether Good or Bad, You know I'm 100% honest with you about everything and this is no exception.

Like I said I have been a Body Shop Fan for along time, I even based my A Level Business Studies Coursework on The Body Shop, and I have used there Body Butters since I was about 13 years old!

So expect lots of interesting reviews to come, both here and on my Youtube Channel, I like to keep things varied.

Essensity Air Fix Pump Spray Review

I was very kindly sent Schwarzkopf Essensity Air Fix Pump Spray to try out and review. The spray is ultimately a hair spray in the pump form rather than the traditional aerosol can.

So what's different about this spray? Here's what Schwarzkopf say about the Essensity Range:

"A complete range of colour, care & styling delivering 100% performance. Pure certified organic essences & essential oils drawn from innovative, efficient extraction techniques such as freshly freeze-dried essences of Aloe Vera. Replacement of synthetic ingredients whenever they are substitutable without compromising performance.

All products are free from: artificial fragrances, silicones, paraffin-/mineral oils and parabens.

The results are convincing: healthy looking hair, natural shine with a velvety, beautiful touch."

So the difference here is that this spray is an all natural product that doesn't contain the usual harsh chemicals that standard hairspray does. The Spray proposes to provide Medium to Strong Coverage which is non sticky and easy to brush out.

So this morning i decided to test this spray on a style that i love: the age old quiff.

Here is what the quiff looked like at 9 am this morning:

And here is what the quiff looks like now nearly 12 hours later:

Amazing the quiff has held in place literally ALL day!! Which is brilliant. I must say that upon spraying the spray i noticed a very pleasant fragrance that wasn't over powering at all as some traditional hair sprays can be.

Overall this product gets a definite thumbs up from me. The quiff feels soft to touch, not hard like hairspray can sometimes make it, and it doesn't contain all of the harsh chemicals typical hairsprays contain. Plus the fact that it has lasted all day is just amazing!
